Drug Trafficking Accused Escapes From NCB Jammu Headquarters, Search Operation Underway

A drug trafficking accused allegedly escaped from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) headquarters in Jammu, triggering a search operation by Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies.
The accused has been identified as Aqib Bashir, a resident of Kakapora in Pulwama district. According to preliminary information, Bashir was earlier arrested in Samba after authorities allegedly recovered 522 grams of heroin from his possession. During the investigation, agencies reportedly suspected his involvement with a narcotics module.
The accused is said to have escaped from NCB custody during the night, following which authorities initiated efforts to locate him. Jammu and Kashmir Police have reportedly formed multiple teams to track his movements and have been checking possible locations where he could be hiding.
Security agencies are also examining the circumstances surrounding the escape, including how the accused managed to leave the NCB premises and whether anyone may have assisted him. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
